Garmin GPS Navigation Devices – Leading the Industry in Bluetooth GPS

Garmin is a group that produces software, devices and receivers in the GPS industry. The Garmin GPS devices can be used by anyone ranging from people who travel to businesses, cars and even the military. There is a great amount of technology that goes into the devices made by the company, including Bluetooth GPS products. Here's a look at the story of these devices made by Garmin.

When Garmin started out in 1989 by a group of engineers its goal was to create GPS devices that can use the Global Positioning System services created by the United States Department of Defense. This was first used by the military in combat operations but since then new devices and products have been made available for the general public.

One of the main reasons as to why Garmin has become such a popular business in the GPS world is because of its strong support of its products. Data that is used for these products is updated often and the products that have been created have evolved to be more compatible with other devices over the years. The customer service department of Garmin is also especially successful. This department works with customers to offer assistance in any concerns that they may have with the products Garmin makes.

The early Garmin GPS devices used a standard RS-232 serial port. This was the original interface used by the company. While it is a standard and some groups still use this standard Garmin has evolved since then. PDA devices and more modern computers no longer use the RS-232 interface, so Garmin has since worked to create a new one. USB ports, which are commonplace among computers, are used along with Bluetooth GPS products. Bluetooth, which is one of the top standards in wireless communication, has become a great standard fro Garmin.

All sorts of different GPS models made by Garmin work in the Bluetooth GPS field. The Gecko, EMap and ETrex families of products are among those that use this technology.

The Bluetooth GPS programs used by Garmin were created by Semsons and Company. The way that this Bluetooth GPS navigation service is used is that the user of the GPS program will have to insert an adapter into the power outlet in the car (or cigarette lighter depending on model) and then use a cable for connecting to the GPS device.

USB technology is used too. GPS Warehouse uses configurations for EMap and ETrex Vista programs in the Garmin universe. Cable connections have been eliminated in some of these products in that the user installs the GPS program onto a computer and ports have to be organized in the control panel via the computer program for the device.

Garmin GPS navigation devices are great products to use for travel. Not only do these devices feature great customer service and support but they also support some of the top formats of wireless technology. This includes Bluetooth GPS products. This makes for one great GPS device company.
